Japanese Barberry Dumpster Day

Saturday, May 13th, 9am-1pm. Bring your invasive plants to the Invasive Species Network (ISN)! ISN will be accepting (and properly disposing of) invasive plants that have been removed from your own landscape. Invasive Species Work bees

Help our Conservation District remove invasive plants such as garlic mustard. Multiple dates and locations available. Garlic mustard work bees also include a paper making tutorial! See website for more details: http://natureiscalling.org/events

NATIVE PLANT SALE!

Saturday, May 20th, 8am-3pm. Boardman River Nature Center. Update your home landscape with native plants that are beautiful, well-adapted to our climate, and support a variety of animals living in our region. Plant experts will be on hand to help you pick out the perfect native plants from our selection of over 50 species. Cash, check, and credit cards will be accepted.

Guided Wildflower Walks in Pete’s Woods

Tuesdays, May 2 and 9, 10am-12pm. Meet at the GTRLC Pete’s Woods trailhead parking lot, located on Swamp Rd.  From Joyfield Rd. turn south on Swamp Rd. (1 3⁄4 mi west of US 31 or 3 1⁄2 mi east of M 22).

Program: “What Difference Can Plants Make Anyway?”

Wednesday May 17th, 7pm. Trinity Lutheran Church  955 James St., Frankfort, MI on James Street between 9th and 10th Streets.

Wildflower of the Woods and Dunes Hike

Wednesday June 14th, 10am-12pm. Meet at the Mt. Baldy Trailhead parking lot in Arcadia Dunes Preserve on M-22.  This parking lot is .8 miles south of Joyfield Rd.

Natural Shorelines Program

Wednesday, June 21st, 7pm. Trinity Lutheran Church  955 James St., Frankfort, MI on James Street between 9th and 10th Streets.

Lake Bank Restoration Field Trip

Friday, June 30th, 4pm. Bring your own kayak/canoe and join John Ransom and Carolyn Thayer for a tour of the shoreline of Lower Herring Lae and the natives gardens at Watervale. Meet at Lower Herring Lake access at the end of Boo Hoo View Rd.  From M-22 turn on Watervale Rd. and then right on Boo Hoo Views Rd.

Create your own Bonsai

Wednesday, May 3rd, 6pm-9pm.  Workshop for bonsai beginners and will take us through the process of pruning, wiring and potting a nursery boxwood. See website for registration.

Planning & Cultivating a Kitchen Herb Garden

Wednesday, May 24th, 7pm-9pm. Learn how to grow your own kitchen herb garden with Dixie Stephen. This is the first class in our five-class Herb Series that will be offered all season long. See website for registration.
